love it: peek a baby book

A few weeks ago my good friend stopped by.  She has yet to have kids of her own so she asked a friend of hers what to get for Miss A.  Her recommendation was this book:

And what a great recommendation it was!  Avery has been squeezing, scrunching and tasting this book from the moment we opened it.  Each page has a fun activity for your little one to explore.  Lifting flaps, different textures, rattles, squeakers and crinkly paper - you name it, this book has it!  Between this and  Sophie, it will be a long time before we need another toy!

love it: snout cups

How cute are these??  Well, I think they are pretty cute.  What a fun birthday party cup!  Guess I have a few years before they would really work for Miss A and her pals.

love it: enjoying the small things

I checked my facebook account yesterday and found a link to this story written by Kelle Hampton, which had been posted by a girlfriend of mine.  Kelle has a blog called Enjoying the Small Things .

After reading the story, which is so painful and beautiful at the same time, I immediately read about 10 posts in a row (even though I knew I should be sleeping) to find out how she was doing since her story was posted.  Beware, you will cry and you will fall in love with her little one.  Enjoy!

love it: the final piece

Over the last 5 months or so I have been collecting art to hang in Miss A's room.  I was still looking for one final piece and I found it!  Reading  A Cup of Jo this morning I stumbled upon this great photo of a baby giraffe.

I had to have it...and now I do, or I ordered it anyway.  Here are the others that I have for her wall of art:

There is one last piece that was given to me and I do not have it available to put on this post.  But as soon as I hang all the art I will take a photo and show you what her art wall looks like.  I cannot wait because I am tired of staring at blank white walls (we rent) as I feed her!

love it: Sophie

Lately little Miss A has been putting everything and everyone in her mouth and chomping away.  As I looked through all the goodies we were given at the shower for something suitable for teething,  I realized that everything was really hard.  So we went to a nearby baby store, Citikids , looking for a softer toy for her to chew on.  There were a few options, most of which had weird gels or were too similar to the ones we already had at home.  And then there was Sophie !

I thought it was pretty ridiculous to buy her at first because she is a little on the pricey side, but she is all natural rubber and painted with food grade paints.  And she is soft enough for her to chew on without hurting her gums.  And now she is a Sophie addict!  She loves to hold on the neck and chomp down on the face.  It is quite adorable to see!

love it: Ses Petites Mains

I found ses petites mains via Bloesom Kids today and wished 1) Avery were old enough to wear it, 2) I were young enough to wear it and 3) that we had just about every piece from the spring collection!

love it: hat boxes

Hat boxes make great storage.  Miss A's room really needed some extra storage since the closet in her room is being used by dad because the one in our room is too small for both of us.  I knew I didn't have room for another piece of furniture and didn't know what I was going to do until I saw these hat boxes at Land of Nod.

The best part...they are on sale (they are even a dollar cheaper now than what I bought them for).  I have our three different baby carriers in the large size, extra bottles and miscellaneous feeding goods in the medium one, and packages of breast pads (TMI?) in the small one.  And when stacked they are tall enough to act as a side table.  Love it!!

love it: black and white

Yesterday, while shopping at Anthropologie (a rare occurrence these days), I found a dress for me and these great flash cards from Wee Gallery for Miss A:

Miss A loves them.  I was concerned that maybe she was too old for them.  They say they are great for newborns, but she is mesmerized by them.  And then this morning as I was pouring over the blogs I read daily and found this via oh joy!:

They are a collection of dvds for little ones with images and animations all in black and white.  My only problem is that it involves a television.  But I guess if it was for limited time it would be fine.  The website says they are available at the MOMA, although I was unable to find them on their site.

What do you think?  Would you let your little one watch the animations or would you just stick to flash cards?
